In government class about an hour and a half ago, we had an interesting question of the day.
"In your opinion, is there any comparison between President Bush and Adolf Hitler?"
Well, one thing I see is when he waves he does the arm thing, like "Heil Hitler" and then waves his hand." I've always found that funny. One thing that Neal (Neal2028) said is when he's giving a speech and it's a really heated speech, President Bush will sometimes look up at the people and move his jaw left and right, supposedly what Hitler used to do when he spoke to the masses.
Direct link between Hitler and Bush? I doubt it, but there's always a chance.

Scary stuff here:
Your teacher could get in REALLY BIG TROUBLE EVEN FOR TALKING ABOUT THIS. How sick.
That being said, there are literally millions of people who have made such allusions.
Probably the most famous commentary on American fascism comes from Sinclair Lewis. His famous 1935 Novel It Can't Happen Here included this prophetic line: "When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." Think about that one for a minute. He wrote that in 1935!
And if you just want to go point by point through the issues, there's no better source than The project for the OLD American Century and their George W Bush and the 14 points of fascism.
Finally, a note. Using the term "fascist" in political discourse today is a complete losers game even though it is patently obvious that the baby's wrapped in the boa constrictor. I deal with idiots all the time who scream the terms "communist!" or "socialist" in order work liable against anyone who wants government to pay for itself and protect people from corporate greed. Every time somebody pulls that junk they are instantly discredited as reactionary fools. So will you if you start going around calling people "fascists". It just makes you look stupid.
Thank you Josh for your comment. I think my teacher was referring to the teacher that made biased comments about the president. Usually he invokes these questions for us to discuss as a class. But today, me and Neal were the only ones I heard talking about it.
Any other comments are welcome.
Except for that little physical tick, it's ridiculous to compare Bush and Hitler. Bush is not a nice man, he's the worst president we've ever had, and he's caused us to lose almost 3,000 troops.
Hitler slaughtered a whole lot of Jews (the number escapes me) and was bent on world domination.
There is a difference...
Our government teacher looks like he really doesn't give a **** (insert expletive here, and preferably one that the teacher uses), and, as he is a Republican, he definitly wasn't comparing them himself. Just seeing what would happen (and it wasn't as funny as when simple questions like "How did Bush hadnle Hurricane Katrina").
Actually one can compare Bush and Hitler. The Bush family fortune originally came from the Third Reich. Let me show you just a little bit about it.

Oh and I also wanted to let you know that I changed my website address and bought a dot com. Thought you might like to know since you are linked to my old website. This way you can update your link to my new site at www.staticbrain.com

Wow, I thought I was the only one who noticed the jaw thing.
I hadn't actually noticed it until one of my friends who's a Methodist preacher, but is also a big WWII expert (and Democrat) pointed it out to me. Then I couldn't help but notice it every time he did it.
